Airport coach Kirk Burnett cited work ethic as a prime reason for South Carolina's 23-19 victory in the Shrine Bowl.

"We had to slow some guys down during practice," said Burnett, who was the offensive coordinator for the team. "The guys played with a chip on their shoulders. They got tired of hearing how good the North Carolina players were."

The Sandlappers scored on two 80-yard, fourth-quarter drives to rally from a 13-9 deficit.
