Corey grew up in Pageland, a small town in South Carolina. He was born 1968 to a large family with 10 brothers & sisters. Corey attended Pageland Central High School and graduated in 1987. It was here that his career in sports began. In high school, Corey was All-American football player and an All-State basketball player. He was selected to play in the NC/SC Shrine Bowl in 1987 and was voted MVP of the game. Corey had the honor of being team captain and the only active living football player to have his jersey (#33) retired from Pageland Central High School.
In 1987 he received a full scholarship from University of South Carolina to play football for the Gamecocks. He was a 3 year starter (defensive end) from 1988 - 1990, team captain in 1990, defensive end MVP in 1989, All-South independent '89-'90, honorable mention All-American 1990. Corey graduated from USC with a Bachelor degree in Sociology.
In 1991 he was drafted by the NY Giants in the 6th round. Corey became an incumbent and started at outside line backer position alongside hall-of-famer Lawrence Taylor (LT). 1993 was Millers best season totaling 6 1/2 sacks, 3 interceptions and was named to the General Manager's All-Pro team. After 8 seasons with the NY Giants, a neck injury caused him to be released from his contract. In 1999, Miller was signed by the Minnesota Vikings and played outside linebacker for 1 year before retiring after the 2000 season.
Former Gamecock tight end Wesye Saunders is putting the past year behind him. After sitting out his senior season at USC, then waiting for the NFL lockout to end, Saunders is in the Steelers' training camp and hoping to latch on. The Pastor of Pain caught up with Saunders for an update.
